finished project, finished transition

So here I am in my hotel room, all to myself. I have been here for almost a week now. I have had internet this whole time and it kind of intimidates me! I had a roommate at first, but his transition took place somewhere else so he left after the 2nd day. It has been a chaotic and awkward week seeing all 300 Corps members back in one place. The 7 other guys that I 'grew up with' during CTI are almost a forgotten memory now. I am very attached to my team. We had our official debriefing yesterday and it was amazing. Our presentation blew away any weak standards ever previously set in the past! Today we set out for a community service project 40 minutes outside of Jackson. I was the project leader and really had no idea what to expect at this location other than it was with a church center of some type. Turns out that we were headed to the summer camp. This camp had it all. 700 acres of land, a huge lake, a pool, a rope course, fishing, open fields, cabins, shelters, an 18 hole disc golf course... I was blown away. There were so many things to do, but todays task was removal of fallen limbs around the camp. We followed Charlie around as he drove the tractor and trailer loading it up with branches and what-not. We were invited back to play around, but unfortunately we are leaving Friday morning and do not have much free time between now and then. Tomorrow early afternoon we have our brief and I am dying to just get it over with. We may be able to go to the camp afterward for the afternoon if all goes well. Friday morning we are going to breakfast, packing the van, and leaving! I saw a bunch of pictures today of our upcoming locations in WV and they look amazing. I am really excited for The Mountain Institute. Once again, I will be in a ZERO cell phone coverage area. I mean, hell, half of WV doesn't even have running water, why should we get cell phones... To get to a major town to buy groceries it will take about 5 hours roundtrip! Talk about isolated...
Now its time for pictures and captions because I am getting sleepy

Official 2nd Project Update

**Update: I will be at the mountain institute for the first 3 weeks!

Hey all-
Its been a tough couple of weeks wrapping up our project in Mobile, AL. This is our last week. After this weekend we will transition for a week in Jackson, MS. After the week is over we are going to travel to West Virginia to our next location. We will be working with 2 sponsors- High Rocks and Mountain Institute.
See links below...

High Rocks

Mountain Institute

My addresses should be as follows:

High Rocks
Attn: Justin Wolfe AmeriCorps NCCC Class XIV
HC 64 BOX 438
Hillsboro, WV 24946

Mountain Institute
Attn: Justin Wolfe AmeriCorps NCCC Class XIV
HC 75 BOX 24
Circleville, WV 26804

At the Mountain Institute we will be working on the world's 3rd largest yurt, renovating it and re-roofing. At the Highrock Church we will be preparing the camp for the summer campers doing needed touch up work as well as mentoring a group of teenage girls. Both of these sound very exciting. We will be traveling between the two sites periodically throughout the 7 weeks, but I should have a steady internet connection at both locations. NOTE: I WILL NOT HAVE CELL PHONE COVERAGE IN THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS! That's right, 7 weeks with no phone. Please send me phone cards or look for me on Skype (justin wolfe). I will also gladly welcome snail mail :)

If I have any updates I will post them over transition.

Peace,
Justin

PS. My flight information for June's summer break

omitted due to extreme length and legibility
I'm flying back to DSM on June 28 and staying through July 7.

NEXT PROJECT!

With only a couple weeks left of this project we finally found out where our next project is going to be. For a complete change of pace we are going to be working at Camp Highroads in Middleburg, Virginia. Check out the website here... left blank
Just kidding, this just in from a fellow colleague: After getting hyped up to tell you that I was going to be working at a Christian Youth Camp, I have been recently informed that this was not what we were doing after all. Please wait while I get the low-down

::getting information::

OK, really confused, apparently we are going to be working in West Virginia on the worlds largest yurt. YURT!? For those of you who don't know what a yurt is:

This is a finished modern yurt. Google that!

I don't even know what to say. The worlds largest yurt!? I feel like I am getting tricked. And knowing how my team operates, I wouldn't be the least surprised. All the way back north in West Virginia. I hope its in the mountains and that we will be camping. I think that would be amazing; A little back-to-nature solitude in the mountains! Talk about learning to really appreciate the modern advances of life that I used to take for granted every day. I guess that is all I really know right now. I am still kinda speechless...

I may have some pictures to post. A couple KaBoom pics that came from other cameras.

Welp, I guess I will keep you all updated as I talk to you in the near future. If anything changes or I receive new details, I will post the information here.

YURT!!,
Justin
